19^th century Russia sets the stage for this psychological thriller. Hermann has been searching for love and finds it in Lisa. She is the ward of the aged countess whose colorful youth earned her the moniker, Queen of Spades.  Lisa is betrothed to Prince Yeletsky but finds herself in love with the mysterious Hermann.  Hermann, obsessed with greed and the allure of the Countess’ supernatural card trick, unsuccessfully demands the secret at gunpoint.  Will he be inspired by love or destroyed by greed?

An evening featuring UAO Alumni Artists, UAO Opera Ensemble, and UAO Orchestra with your favorite arias, choruses, overtures, and interludes.

A special thank you to the Musicians’ Local 2-197, American Federation of Musicians, and the UAO orchestra for their donation of this gala concert and its rehearsals.

Journey back in time to the Middle East during the first century, and meet the young, crippled shepherd, Amahl, and his mother.  One mysterious night, a knock at their door reveals three kings on a long journey to give gifts to a marvelous child. Will Amahl’s Mother’s dream of a better life for her dissolute son be answered? Discover the kings’ wondrous generosity and Amahl’s selflessness as a miracle ensues.  You are sure to be uplifted by this inspiring story of faith and hope presented in one-act.  Amahl is the beginning of a holiday tradition at UAO and was originally commissioned by NBC’s Radio City Music Hall. All ticket prices are reduced $5 for Amahl.  There is a $15 child ticket for those 13 and under.
