Union Avenue Opera is inviting singers ages 8 to 16 with treble/unchanged voices to audition to participate in the Youth Chorus in its 2024 production of Georges Bizet’s Carmen. This is an exciting opportunity for young singers to have the chance to sing with professional opera singers on the UAO stage.
Auditions will be held at Union Avenue Opera [733 N Union Blvd] on Wednesday, April 17 from 4:00PM to 6:00PM. Those auditioning will be taught a selection from the show as a group before auditioning individually.
All youth chorus members will be expected to commit to all performances and required rehearsals. There will be 3-4 music rehearsals in May/June (dates TBD) and the rehearsal period begins June 17. The Youth Chorus will only be called when needed during the evening and on weekends. A detailed schedule will be provided. No artists will be excused beginning June 26 due to tech and dress rehearsals. There are 4 performances of Carmen: July 5, 6, 12, 13, 2024 at 8:00PM.
