Day-of sign-ins begin at 5:30 p.m. All auditionees must sign in before 7:00 p.m.

Fiddler on the Roof at Union Avenue Opera
Performances: July 3, 10, 11 at 8:00 p.m. and July 5 at 3:00 p.m.

Rehearsals

  • Two to three chorus-only music rehearsals scheduled May/June (dates TBD)
  • Staging rehearsals begin June 15
  • Principal and select supporting roles require daytime and evening availability
  • Chorus rehearsals take place evenings and weekends
  • All roles are expected to be memorized and off-book by the first staging rehearsal
  • Attendance at all scheduled rehearsals is required

Material to Prepare
Chorus Only: Prepare 32 bars or up to one minute of a Golden Age musical theatre song of your choosing, preferably in the style of Fiddler on the Roof.

Principal/Supporting Roles: Prepare 32 bars or one minute of a Golden Age musical theatre song of your choosing, preferably in the style of the Fiddler on the Roof that you will open with. In addition, prepare a full selection from Fiddler on the Roof that best suits your vocal ability as your second selection (second selections are not guaranteed). You are permitted to use two separate selections from Fiddler on the Roof if you choose. Artists may be asked to do a brief reading. Pages will be provided at the audition.

All auditions will be accompanied by UAO’s in-house pianist. A cappella singing or pre-recorded accompaniment tracks will not be permitted.

Please Note
These auditions are for local artists who wish to be considered for Fiddler on the Roof only.
Individuals who wish to be considered for Union Avenue Opera’s full 2026 season should apply for a standard audition through YAP Tracker. All auditions will be weighed equally. There is no advantage or disadvantage to either process.

Union Avenue Opera is not hearing high school or youth artists at this time.
