Opera is the most expensive of the performing arts to produce. At Union Avenue Opera, our artistic and production costs average about $75,000 per production; that includes the orchestra, singers, sets, lighting, and everything else necessary to give you the experience you have come to expect and enjoy from Union Avenue Opera. Even with the popularity of our original language productions, our ticket revenues cover only 37 percent of our operating budget each year. Your gifts help make up the revenue gap not covered by grants and foundation support.
